PicoBeat Sync
picoBeat Sync is a data-synchronization for Windows Smartphones (or Pocket PC organizers). It will synchronize tasks, contacts and the calendar. It is provided free of charge.
Installation and usage
- We do strongly recommend you backup your data first (using for example PIM Backup)
- Download the CAB file, copy it somewhere on your device and open it: this is will do the installation
- Make sure your device has access to the Internet. Start picoBeat Sync and choose the "Sync" menu, which will prompt you to edit the options.
- Put your username and password on the option screen
- Very important:
- If your device is empty (or you don't care about loosing its content) and you'd like to copy all data from picoBeat, choose "Download only". This will permanently erase the device contacts, tasks and calendar and replace them with what is on picoBeat.
- If you want to do the opposite and copy all your device content to picoBeat instead, then choose "Upload only" (this will delete and replace picoBeat data).
- This is only necessary on the first time you synchronize with the software to make sure both sides start with the same set of data. Following sync will work normally by propagating any change on both side of the synchronization.
- Press the Sync menu: synchronization will start.
Requirements
You need a Windows Smartphone 5.0 or above (6.0, 6.1, 6.5, etc.) capable of connecting to the Internet. Windows Smartphone 2003 should also work provided you have the Compact Framework 2.0 runtime installed.
Limitations
- Device has priority over the picoBeat server : in case an item was modified on both sides, the change of the device will be applied and the one on the server discarded.
- Contact's pictures are synchronized, but deleted pictures on the server will not be removed on the phone.
